[MOD DESCRIPTION]
Parking Sensor System for GTA V
Enhance your parking precision with this immersive Parking Sensor mod for Grand Theft Auto V. Designed to simulate real-life vehicle proximity sensors, this mod adds beep sound alerts and on-screen distance overlays as you approach obstacles from the rear of your vehicle. Whether you're trying to park in tight spaces or avoid collisions, this system provides a dynamic, audio-visual feedback mechanism for a more realistic driving experience.
[MOD OVERVIEW]
The Parking Sensor mod simulates rear parking assist systems found in modern vehicles. It uses in-game raycasting to detect nearby obstacles behind the player's vehicle and triggers beeping sounds that increase in frequency the closer you get to the object. A text overlay also displays the exact distance in meters with a color-coded warning system:
🟢 Green: Safe (4m+)
🟡 Yellow: Caution (<4m)
🔴 Red: Danger (<1m)
The system activates automatically when reversing or moving slowly backward, and it stops when: The engine is off / The vehicle is moving forward / No obstacle is detected
Changelog v1.2.1 🚗🔧
Added a dedicated toggle key for enabling/disabling the mod, default is '-' key ⬇️ (customizable via the .ini file ⚙️).
Improved raycasting for more accurate detection of obstacles behind the vehicle 👀🚧.
Script now activates only when the vehicle is in reverse gear (R) 🔄.
Changelog v1.2 🚗📡
Script now detects pedestrians 🧍♂️ and low obstacles (e.g., curbs, poles, barriers) ✅
Improved raycasting logic for better obstacle detection 👀
Cleaned up INI logic and added fallback pathing for better reliability ⚙️
Changelog v1.1 🚗🔊
.ini file now fully functional 🎉
Added toggle options in .ini file that you can edit :
EnableMod=true (master switch)
EnableOverlay=false (hide on-screen text)
EnableBeep=true (enable beep sounds)
Limited script to run only on cars (excludes planes & boats) ✈️🚤 ( Big thanks to @JammyBoi141 🙏)

@DrMomenAlbakkar what version of scripthookv.net 3 do i need? im on game version 3028 on steam
@shawnlarkins0408 I'm using ScriptHookVDotNet3 version 3.7.0.20 (pretty sure it's the latest — you can easily find it online).
My game version is 1.0.3411.0, but I don’t think the script would cause any issues for you — it’s a pretty simple one.
Hi there @Antthony_12
Regarding the small wall detection issue, it should be fixed now! We also added pedestrian detection in the new update and I’m just waiting for the file to be approved so players can download it.
The only problem left now is that the sensors should work only when the gear is in reverse (R). ( still work on N and 1st gear )
If you notice any other issues or bugs, please let me know and we’ll work on fixing them.
Thanks again for your help and support!
Hi @DrMomenAlbakkar
I haven't had time to look at it yet, but I'll do it in about two hours. I'm glad you're fixing the bugs, keep it up!
didnt know this was needed until now. Thanks friend for your idea & hardwork !!!
Hi @DrMomenAlbakkar, I bring good and bad news.
The good news:
I've added that if the car is in first gear or stopped, the sensor stops until you move backward again.
// I've replaced this condition with the one below
// if (veh.Speed > 10f || directionDot > 0f) return;
// If the vehicle is in first gear or stopped
if (veh.CurrentGear >= 1 || veh.Speed == 0)
{
return;
}
I like it this way, but it's personal and maybe I'm the only one, so I don't know if it would be good if it were also customizable in the .ini file.
Ex:
if(sensorCanStop){
if (veh.CurrentGear >= 1 || veh.Speed == 0)
{
return;
}
}
else
{
// If the vehicle is stopped, it will continue to sound
if (veh.CurrentGear >= 1)
{
return;
}
}
Another thing, I saw that you added the ability to disable the script from the .ini (EnableMod). That's great, but I think it would be better with an in-game key.
Ex:
// I think this library is necessary
using System.Windows.Forms;
public class ParkingSensor: Script
{
private bool scriptOn = true;
private void OnTick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!scriptOn) return;
}
private void OnKeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e)
{
if (e.KeyCode == Keys.F5) // Or whatever key you want. Or, hehe, that it's customizable via the .ini file.
{
scriptOn = !scriptOn;
Notification.PostTicker("ParkingSensor " + (scriptOn ? "activated" : "deactivated"), true, true);
}
}
The bad news:
I've noticed that if I raise the front wheels to a curb or they're simply higher than the rear ones, it seems to detect the ground, and the same thing happens if there's a ramp behind it.
And finally, as I get closer to a wall/object, the counter goes down correctly. When I'm close, it shows 0.01, but if I keep getting closer, it goes back up to 0.40. It does this twice more, I think, until it returns to 0.01. I move the car another millimeter and I hit the wall/object.
I've recorded a couple of examples in clips; if you want, I can upload them to YouTube privately and share the link.
I'll leave you my GitHub where I have my scripts, and if you learn anything by looking at them, well... I'll be happy :D
https://github.com/Antthony12/Timer/blob/main/English/timer.3.cs
It's not autospam, I swear (it is :v)
Hi @DrMomenAlbakkar, i have problem, i put the script correctly in the GTAV/scripts folder but it doesn't work. yet i have the dependencies. what would be the problem ?
now imagine the back up cam!
@DrMomenAlbakkar Excellent mod ,can u tell when will next update or mod with as u mentioned above that reverse camera mod and can u do 360 view camera and sensor system ?
Hi bro @Antthony_12
Thank you so much for your script — it’s running perfectly on my end now after adding your improvements! I really appreciate your help and the time you took to review and enhance it.
Regarding the fluctuating distance measurement you mentioned, I believe that’s related to the number of rays used to detect the distance to the object behind. Also, sometimes it’s affected by the vehicle dimensions — especially with add-on cars, their hitbox or bounding box sizes are often not 100% accurate, which leads to some inconsistent readings. You might have noticed this when the sensor detects a collision even though there’s technically still a small gap between your vehicle and the object in front.
I’ve re-enabled the mod after your update, and it works smoothly now. Thanks again for your valuable advice and improvements. I’m just waiting for the final approval on the site to publish it officially.
Thanks again and looking forward to collaborating more!
Best regards
Hi ! @pete_englishman
Thanks a lot for your comment 🙏
I'm glad you're excited — the backup camera idea is definitely something I'm working toward!
Unfortunately, right now there are some technical limitations with camera rendering in GTA V scripts, so that feature will take a bit more time to implement properly.
But it’s definitely on my roadmap 🎯
Hi @Chrizz07
hank you so much! I appreciate the support and your enthusiasm 🙌
✅ The reverse-only mode is already implemented and the new version has been uploaded — I'm just waiting for approval from the site, and then you’ll be able to download it right away.
🔄 As for the 360° camera and sensor system, it's a bit more complex. Since the mod now works only when the car is in reverse gear (R), we have two possible options:
Enable 360° sensors only in reverse.
Create a dynamic system where:
Rear + side sensors work while in Reverse (R).
Front + side sensors work while in First gear (D).
But the issue here is that front sensors can become annoying in traffic, triggering constantly.
💡 So the best solution is to add a toggle key to switch between front, rear, or full 360° sensors manually, depending on the player's preference.
That will require some extra work, so the feature will take some time — but it's definitely planned!
@Brozay_Sayz_Ayoo You are welcome ! So glad that you liked it !
I have a suggestions. 1) Make luxury and expensive vehicles to always have this sensor while old or normal vehicles could also have it but with random chance configurable through the INI. 2) Add a locations on the map to buy and setup this sensor on any vehicle wherever that is old or expensive. 3) Add a variety of "beep" sound. 4) If possible, let npc also have this beep sound when parking.
@DrMomenAlbakkar ;)
@Antthony_12 Tell me bro !
@DrMomenAlbakkar Hope u work that out, keep going bro !
@DrMomenAlbakkar even If u can make a reverse camera only mod that's would be fantastic , If possible try 360 view
@DrMomenAlbakkar The implementation of the on/off button is very good.
For me, all that's missing is another sensor at the front, and that's it.
@DrMomenAlbakkar Nice, but can this be done where the beeping signal only goes off warning when nearing too close to something, like another car/object?
